Presentations and

Public Speaking

if you want a lot of boondoggle trips, become a go-to presenter

This was the advice I received from one of my marketing coworkers when I started at Tableau. And boy was it true. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to stay in many fancy hotels due to my ability to make incredibly scripted and overused data puns sound off the cuff. In all seriousness though, I actually do enjoy public speaking quite a bit. In college, I spent nearly 3 years working at a research center called The Decision Theater, mainly serving as a tour guide a preparing me for a life of explaining complicated data models to everyone from politicians to 8th grade students. Here’s a small sampling of some of the presentations I’ve written myself.
