Pop Viz: A Dashboard of Ice and Fire

March 29, 2013

Nerds everywhere (myself included) are all eagerly awaiting the return of hit HBO series “A Game of Thrones” which will be premiering its third season this Sunday. I’m an avid fan of the books, which is both a blessing and a curse. While I enjoy the deep knowledge I have about the characters and the world of Westeros and Essos, it is a little less fun to already know what’s coming up, especially since the show is so good at leaving you with a good cliffhanger at the end of each episode. Plus, the things that happen in this season are going to be CRAZY.

I made this dashboard of the number of chapters for each POV (point of view) character in A Song of Ice and Fire. I figure this will roughly translate to how much screen time the respective story lines will get. Of course, there are other things to factor in. Some chapters are much more action-packed than others, and those will likely get more airtime, as they are more exciting for the viewers. But, it’s still always fun to speculate how things will play out. Here’s the dashboard:

There’s some decent analysis of how the books translate to the screen in the Reddit post of the dashboard, too. Check it out, but watch out for spoilers!
